Adidas Incorporation on Indonesian "Batik" Motif?

Padamulanya sebuah obrolan ringan di greenroom, grandstudio Metrotv di Kedoya,Jakarta. Sore itu Pak Rahardi Ramelan dan Wahyu Aditya sedang bersiap untuk taping acara Padamu Negeri. Topiknya: Ekonomi Kreatif,Merambah Jalan Baru. Saya dan Fifi Aleyda Yahya sedang sharing dan brainstorming dengan mereka berdua.

Setelah bicara definisi, diskusi tentang praksis industri kreatif di Indonesia, peluang dan kendalanya. Studi perbandingan dengan negara-negara lain, memetakan isu-isu penting di sekitar topik itu, Pak Rahardi melempar tinjauan kritisnya mengenai polemik klaim atas batik antara bangsa kita dengan malaysia. Yang paling membuat kami terhenyak dan kian serius menyimak cetusannya adalah bahwa adidas, pernah meluncurkan seri materials of the world: Indonesia.

Bertanya pada google adalah langkah pertama yang lazim ditempuh buat mereka yang curious. Saya tidak berpikir dua kali....eureka.....akhirnya ketemu juga dengan artikel bergambar produk adidas itu. Bacaan soal inkorporasi di masa lalu yang saya catat dalam ingatan mencuat kembali.

Bagi yang kurang teliti akan dengan cepat menyimpulkan bahwa batik telah menjadi aksen dari produk-produk adidas itu. Buat para pembatik, yang diinkorporasi oleh adidas hanyalah ragam hias batik, bukan batik itu sendiri. Apalagi buat mereka yang bersikeras bahwa batasan batik adalah teknik rintang warna dengan canting dan lilin, baik yang tulis( handdrawn) dan cetak/cap( handstamp). Bukan printing, sablon apalagi stencil.
